Starting in 2004, Instructors & Practitioners who choose to submit copies of all certificates in kinesiology and related studies may apply to participate in the new internationally-linked proficiency level designations. The standards listed below will be changing somewhat upon completion of further research by the Standards Committee. This will include registering three trademarks for certification with the federal government sometime in the future. Participation in registering for these proficiency levels is not mandatory.
These new practitioner / instructor levels recognize those members who have invested significant time and energy developing their practices, and who intend to regularly attend continuing education in their field. Meanwhile our association will continue maintaining our previous membership categories which welcome members who choose to support kinesiology in differing ways, including ‘just’
working with family and friends, or working with ‘just’
introductory level class material. (see ‘ Practitioner’, ‘General’ and ‘Student’ listings near the end of this page).

In addition to the above levels supported by documentation of course hours and other requirements, CanASK continues to maintain our original membership levels in honour of the founder of Touch for Health who inspired the creation of our association.
Dr. John Thie wished that Touch for Health and the various kinesiologies which grew from Touch for Health was shared as widely as possible to the best of the person’s ability. To support his vision, we welcome all healers who utilize muscle-monitoring.
Practitioner member ($125)
The original practitioner level, welcoming everyone who practices kinesiology for money and who wish to support the growth of kinesiology in Canada. These practitioners may not wish to regularly proceed further in their studies and participating in the ‘new’ proficiency levels described above.
General member ($65)
- Someone wanting to support the growth of specialized kinesiology in Canada and be part of our network. This person may perhaps want to participate in exchanges, and wishes to be contacted by people of like-mind.
Student member ($35)
- Someone still immersed in studies and wishing to be recognized even though they are not yet in practice. This membership level is priced at a discount with all benefits of a General membership, and is open to any student registering within one year of their first kinesiology class.
Newsletter Subscriber ($35) This is not a membership, and does not include any other benefits other than receiving four issues of ‘Reaching Out’. First time subscribers (typically a Level 1 student registered by their instructor) may subscribe for only $10.
